Prophase
In the early stages of prophase we notice that the nuclear membrane starts to disintegrate.The two chromatids are connected at the centromere as shown in the early prophase picture, they condense into a coiled body. The nucleolus and the nuclear envelope crushes and disappears. The spindle is produced. In animal cells the centrioles separate and move apart. Asters that are illuminating fibres form around them. In plant cells the spindle forms without centrioles.
